Geographical location and special features: Hilzingen is idyllically situated at the foot of the Hohenstoffel mountain and is surrounded by green meadows, fields and forests. The town borders Switzerland and Lake Constance, which creates a unique geographical location. This region is characterised by its picturesque landscapes, which are impressive at any time of the year.

Touristically relevant sights: St. John's Church with its magnificent frescoes is definitely worth a visit. Historians will love Glarisegg Castle - it dates back to the 13th century! For nature lovers, there is the Allensbach Wildlife Park or the Rhine Falls near Schaffhausen (about 30 minutes away).

Cultural highlights and events: The community's annual summer festival attracts many visitors - here you can sample local specialities and experience traditional dances. In autumn, the cultural festival takes place: An event full of music, theatre and art performances.

Culinary highlights: Be sure to try the famous regional speciality "Bodenseefelchen". The dish consists of a type of trout from Lake Constance, served with delicious potato salad or fried potatoes.

Outdoor activities: In the warm season you can enjoy wonderful hiking or cycling, for example on the Lake Constance cycle path. In winter, the nearby Feldberg ski area offers the best conditions for skiing and snowboarding.

Where is it most beautiful in Hilzingen? Visit the Hohenstoffel mountain - from here you can enjoy a breathtaking view over the landscape. If it rains, we recommend a visit to the Aqualon leisure pool or a tour of the historic town centre.

Hilzingen, Konstanz district is definitely worth a trip! We hope this guide will help you make the most of your time here.

Really enjoyed this hike. Sufficiently challenging with steep and sometimes long climbs and the Wutachschlucht, combined with beautiful views. Apart from the last leg when we walked along the lake into Konstanz the trail was very quiet. We had independently arranged accommodation. All were of excellent quality and good value. We had also organised taxis to transport our suitcases between hotels as there was no agency offering to do this. In spite of asking the Verein and various tourist boards I was given no real help or advice. I would recommend all of the companies we used - Taxi Feiburg 555555, Frank Witte, Taxi Striskovic, Dein Taxi and Taxi Vogler. It is not a cheap way of doing things but all of our bags were delivered on time without any problems. If doing this hike take plenty of water and lunch as there are not a lot of places along the way to fill up or buy food. The only disappointment we had was that there did not appear to be any plaque at the end of the hike in Konstanz to mark the end of the walk. We went to Tourist Information and they had no idea where the official end was. Regardless would really recommend the Querweg!
