The region is especially known for its culinary specialities. Be sure to try the famous "Holzminden asparagus", which is grown here, or enjoy fresh trout straight from the Weser River.

But the city also has a lot to offer culturally. Visit Fürstenberg Castle with its impressive porcelain collection or stroll through the historic old town with its half-timbered houses and small shops.

For outdoor enthusiasts, there are numerous opportunities for hiking, cycling or canoeing along the Weser River. In winter, skiers can take their turns on the nearby mountains.

The annual events such as the wine festival in summer or the traditional Christmas market in December are also highly recommended.

And what to do if the weather is bad? How about a visit to the local museum or a relaxing day at the thermal spa?

Whether culture enthusiasts, nature lovers or adrenaline junkies - Heinsen, Holzminden offers something for everyone and is therefore a perfect destination for a varied holiday. Let our Travel Guide inspire you and experience this charming town in Lower Saxony for yourself.
