Whether nature explorers, endurance hikers, walkers, or families – in the hiking paradise Hechingen, there is a suitable tour for every need.
Especially for families with children, Hechingen offers great excursion destinations: fairy tale trail, mini-golf, petting zoo, and attractive playgrounds in the city center and districts promise unforgettable shared hours.
For families with children, the Roman Tour, the Martinsberg Tour, or the Hutzel Tour are recommended. The tours are shorter or can be shortened and are partly equipped with interactive stations.
Roman Tour
Family short hike following the footsteps of the Romans for little and big adventurers with play opportunities along the way.
You conquer the family hike with our hero Pfiffikus. Anyone who wanted to be something among the Romans had to be clever and skillful back then. Along the way, we playfully test dexterity or memory at various stations. Would you have had what it takes to be a legionary, centurion, or even Caesar? Let's find out together! Boredom won't catch the little ones during the hike either.
Vistas of the Swabian Alb plateau, enchanted forests, a large playground with a barbecue area, and the Roman open-air museum in Hechingen-Stein, where you can learn what life was like on a Roman estate, how people cooked, ate, worked, and slept back then, are further experiences. Join us on a discovery journey!
Martinsberg Tour
Here, the highlights line up like pearls on a string: pristine paths, a visit from Snow White and friends on the „Fairytale Path“, and views of Hohenzollern Castle make the short hike perfect.
The short, varied tour, mostly on natural paths, is perfect for nature explorers and those who enjoy casual walking. The visit from Snow White and friends on the „Fairytale Path“ is a special highlight for young and old fairy tale fans. Views of Hohenzollern Castle and winding forest trails make the short hike perfect.
A visit to the mini golf course at Rapphof or the Hechingen indoor-outdoor swimming pool can be easily integrated into the route without major detours.
Hutzel-Tour
Species diversity can be experienced on the Hutzel Tour through sight, smell, and brain with all senses in a diverse natural setting. Especially for children, there is always something exciting to discover and try out at the various explanatory and interactive stations.
The nature-rich hike conveys knowledge about biodiversity simply but memorably at puzzle, explanatory, and interactive stations and is particularly suitable for families with children. Orchard meadows, dappled white and fragrant, laden with fruit or winterly petrified, offer the perfect backdrop for sensory nature experiences. Flowering areas and water biotopes, where the white stork has also become native again, are species-rich habitats. Everywhere there is buzzing and crawling around, which can be observed from wonderfully located viewpoints and resting places.
Heideweg Tour
The hike through the juniper heath impresses with a variety of rare plants and animals. An ideal place for nature observation and to let your soul unwind away from hustle and noise. From the Beuren sun plateau, the views can stretch far into the distance.
The Heideweg tour takes the hiker directly through the heart of Beuren – the „Beuren Heath“. The specific juniper heath captivates with a variety of rare plants and animals. The nature reserve is therefore the ideal place for nature observation and to let your soul unwind away from hustle and noise. Nature lovers and families are well looked after on the easy-to-walk circular route on the heights of Beuren - a sun plateau, from which the views can extend far into the distance.
Those looking for a challenge can extend the tour with a detour to the Dreifürstenstein. This requires sure-footedness and good fitness but rewards with a unique panoramic view. Alternatively, a hearty lunch in Beuren's inns is recommended.
Kirchenköpfle Tour
The challenging hike leads up to the graceful Albtrauf, along it, and back down into the valley. Along the way, the tour captivates with picturesque paths and breathtaking viewpoints.
The hike, mostly on natural paths, through open areas and over winding trails through fragrant forests up to and along the Albtrauf, is only suitable for experienced hikers. Magnificent views from Köhlberg of Hohenzollern Castle, down into the Killer Valley, and even as far as the Black Forest reward the hiker generously for their effort. A shelter with a barbecue area invites you to linger and enjoy at this exposed location.
After descending into the valley, the path leads through Jungingen and along the edge of the forest back to Schlatt. The picturesque Schlatt cemetery chapel, below the Kirchenköpfle, is always in sight. With a final ascent to the chapel, the tour ends at the starting point, Schlatt sports field.
Raichberg Tour
A hike full of contrasts: gently rolling landscapes, wild romantic valleys, and challenging steep ascents crowned by wide views from the Alb cliff edge.
The hike, suitable only for experienced hikers, connects the lovely Alb foothills with numerous orchard meadows to the rough, barren high plateaus of the Alb. From gentle to rugged, many altitude meters are overcome via wooded Alb cliff slopes on narrow paths. The magnificent views from the cliff edge to Hohenzollern Castle and Hechingen with its districts, to the Neckar valley and the Black Forest, more than make up for the effort.
The pilgrimage church “Maria Zell” is another highlight of the tour. Returning through wild romantic paths, hardly touched slopes, past stony rock giants into the valley bottoms, a barbecue area invites you to relax comfortably. There you can reflect on the day's work. Accompanied by the element of water, it goes back to the starting point.
Neuberg Tour
A hike that exudes a pleasant calm through forest passages and at the same time reveals surprising distant views of the Hohenzollern region awaits both walkers and short-distance hikers on the Neuberg Tour.
The Neuberg Tour, which mostly runs on paved paths, is a beautiful, not too long, but still varied short hike for everyone. Charming distant views of Hohenzollern Castle and the Albtrauf captivate hikers just as much as gently green forest passages in pleasant tranquility. On clear days, the view from Neubergkapf or Bollemer Kapf even extends far beyond Hechingen. Rest areas and a shelter with a barbecue spot invite you to relax comfortably along the way.
Spruce Forest Tour
The gentle tour with few elevation meters is perfect for a leisurely walk through orchards, along field paths and through the spruce forest.
On this cozy tour, you can catch a glimpse of the Jewish Cemetery as well as wonderful views of Hohenzollern Castle and the Albtrauf behind it. Enjoyable breaks at one of the seating options along the path or at the barbecue area complete the walking tour in Hechingen-Sickingen.
