Harztor is located on the edge of the Harz National Park between the Zorge and Wieda rivers. The town is known for its breathtaking nature with picturesque hills, deep valleys and dense forests. Herzberg Castle, dating back to the 12th century, is also one of the town's main attractions.

Nordhausen, on the other hand, is located in the southern part of the Harz Mountains on the banks of the Zorge River. It is famous for its historic old town with half-timbered houses from the Middle Ages as well as numerous museums such as the Museum Tabakspeicher or the Museum Kunsthaus Meyenburg.

For culture enthusiasts, the region offers many possibilities: For example, visit the St. Blasii Church in Nordhausen or enjoy a concert at the Nordhausen Theatre. Another highlight are the annual festivals such as the Walpurgis Festival at the Hexentanzplatz or the wine festival in Herzberg.

This region also has a lot to offer in terms of culinary delights - be sure to try local specialities such as Thuringian dumplings or hearty stews with fresh vegetables from the farmers' market.

When it comes to outdoor activities, hikes through the Harz National Park or cycling tours along the Zorge and Wieda rivers can be undertaken. In winter, ski resorts such as Braunlage attract visitors for skiing and snowboarding.

Even in rainy weather, there is plenty to do in Harztor and Nordhausen: Visit the Salztal Paradise, an adventure pool with various slides and sauna areas, or take a guided tour of the crystal cave in Herzberg Castle.

Overall, Harztor and Nordhausen are definitely worth a trip - whether for nature or culture enthusiasts, families or adventurers. The region offers numerous opportunities for a varied holiday in a picturesque setting.
