Maps and trails
Geographically, Hartha lies on the edge of the Ore Mountains and the Leipzig Lowland Bay. The surrounding area is characterised by rolling hills, meadows and forests, which invite you to go on long hikes or bike tours.

One of Hartha's main tourist attractions is Hartenstein Castle, which rises on a mountain above the district of the same name. Today, the castle houses a museum with an impressive collection of Saxon porcelain as well as magnificent halls in the Baroque style.

Another highlight is the local history museum "Alte Pfarrhöfe", where you can gain an insight into the life of past centuries. Here you can admire historical furniture or marvel at traditional craftsmanship.

For cultural highlights, we recommend a visit to the annual Old Town Festival in summer or one of the many concerts and theatre performances in the "Sankt Laurentius" cultural centre.

Culinary Hartha also has a lot to offer. Be sure to try the famous Dresdner Christstollen at the local bakeries or enjoy hearty Saxon specialities such as potato soup with sausage at the Gasthof zur Post.

Outdoor activities are possible in Hartha at any time of year. In summer, you can swim in the open-air pool or take a canoe trip on the Zschopau. In winter, you can go cross-country skiing or snow hiking.

If it rains, we recommend a visit to the "Aqua Marien" adventure pool with its slides and various pools as well as sauna area.

It is especially beautiful in Hartha in autumn, when the forests around the town are brightly coloured and you can go for long walks.

So Hartha offers something for everyone - from culture to nature to culinary delights. A destination that definitely deserves a place on your bucket list!
