The town has a rich history as an important trading centre during the Middle Ages and was a member of the powerful Hanseatic League. Today, Werben is known for its well-preserved historic buildings, including the impressive 13th-century Marienkirche church and the old town hall with its striking architecture.

Visitors can also climb the "Roland" tower for a magnificent view of the surrounding area or stroll through the narrow streets, where you will find many local shops selling handmade souvenirs.

Werben also offers cultural highlights such as music festivals or theatre performances in various venues such as the Kulturhaus Altes Wasserwerk or the Schlosstheater Tangermünde.

Culinary delights are also on offer here - be sure to try the regionally famous specialities such as Labskaus (a traditional dish of cured meat) or pancakes with apple pulp.

There are many options for outdoor activities: Hiking along the river Elbe in spring to autumn; cycling on the many cycle paths around Werben; canoeing on the Elbe in warm weather; fishing and hunting in the surrounding forests in autumn.

If it rains, you can visit the Museum of Town History or take a guided tour of the historic buildings. For those interested in art, there are also galleries such as the "Galerie am Schloss" with changing exhibitions of contemporary artists.

Overall, Werben is worth a visit - whether you like history, nature, culture or culinary delights. Visitors will be thrilled by the picturesque surroundings and quickly fall in love with this charming Hanseatic town!

Also keine vielbefahrenen Straßen.
