Großmehring

Geographical location and special features: Großmehring is located in the federal state of Bavaria, about 70 kilometres northeast of Munich. The town is surrounded by picturesque hills and forests on the banks of the Danube River. Eichstätt is a small town with a rich history and culture. It is known for its baroque architecture, museums and churches.

Tourist attractions: One of the most famous landmarks in the region is Neuburg Castle on the Danube. The castle was built in the 16th century and today houses a museum and an impressive collection of historical works of art. Another highlight is the fossil quarries near Solnhofen - some of the oldest dinosaur fossils were found here.

Cultural highlights and events: The region also has a lot to offer when it comes to culture: in Eichstätt, for example, you can visit the Jura Museum or go on a guided tour of the old town. In summer, the well-known open air festival "Blues & Jazz" takes place here.

Where it's most beautiful: Be sure to visit the Altmühlsee near Gunzenhausen - a beautiful lake with crystal-clear water and magnificent views of the surrounding mountains. The Altmühltal Nature Park also offers breathtaking landscapes and many opportunities for outdoor activities.
