The area around Göhrde is particularly well known for its large forest area with dense forests and idyllic hiking trails. Here you can walk or cycle for hours and enjoy nature. The game reserve in the forest of Göhrde is also a popular destination.

Culturally, this region also has a lot to offer: Göhrde Castle, for example, was once the summer residence of King Ernst August I of Hanover and today there are regular art exhibitions and concerts here.

Another highlight is the region's culinary specialities: be sure to try the delicious asparagus from Lüchow-Dannenberg - it is considered one of the best in Germany!

Even if the weather is bad, you don't have to miss out on activities: Why not visit one of the museums in Dannenberg or take a leisurely stroll through Lüchow.

    Eine sehr interessante Tour, bei der man viel über die Konflikte um Atomenergie erfahren kann. Der Protest dagegen hat immerhin 50 Jahre gedauert und war erfolgreich. Dadurch hat dich das Wendland komplett verändert.

    Vor einigen Jahren wurde der E6 im Wendland großräumig verlegt. Die gezeigte Strecke entspricht daher nicht mehr der Markierung vor Ort. Im Übrigen kann ich den E6 gerade im Wendland wärmstens empfehlen.

    Vorweg: Die Panoramablicke auf die Elbe sind traumhaft. Wäre es so weitergegangen, hätte ich fünf Sterne vergeben. Tipp: Anders als der Tourverlauf unbedingt Hoch auf den Osterberg. Der Blick war Weltklasse auf die Elbe. Insgesamt hat die Tour vier Sterne redlich verdient. Obwohl die Tour meines Erachtens etwas in die Länge gezogen ist und auch Asphalt und einige Wirtschaftswege die Qualität der Tour etwas reduzieren. Aber vielleicht waren Alternativen auch nicht besser. Dafür kenne ich die Gegend nicht gut genug. Insgesamt war die Wanderung waldreich, einige schöne Pfade, besonders an der Elbe, waren sehr gut. Da ich nicht soviel Zeit hatte, bin ich die Tour in knapp 6 Stunden gegangen. Normalerweise sollte man mit Pausen aber schon acht Stunden einplanen. Auf jeden Fall hat mich das Wendland begeistert. Da werde ich demnächst mal ein Wochenende einchecken.

    Hallo, war eine sehr schöne Tour mit vielen tollen Eindrücken. Festes Schuhwerk ist dringend zu empfehlen und auch ungeübte Wanderer sollten Abstand nehmen. Die Tour ist anstrengend und erfordert ein doch sehr zügiges Dahinschreiten. Die 490 Höhenmeter sind auch nicht zu unterschätzen. Was der Tour fehlt sind kleine Möglichkeiten zum Verschnaufen (kleines Gasthaus oder ähnliches). Die Ausschilderung ist soweit ok allerdings haben wir uns an zwei Stellen wegen fehlender Markierungen verlaufen und unfreiwillig abgekürzt.

    Wir haben uns die Tour individuell etwas abgekürzt, aber die hier beschriebene Tour als Ideengrundlage genutzt. Der hier beschriebenen Tour sind wir zwar nur bis kurz nach der ersten Querung der Straße "Am Elbufer" gefolgt, haben sie aber als absolut empfehlenswert empfunden. Wir hatten sehr gute Wegmarkierungen vorgefunden (sahen recht frisch aus) und sind der Markierung "E" gefolgt. Nach der Straße "Am Elbufer, sind wir jedoch gerade aus gegangen und an der zweiten Abbiegung nach links wieder in Richtung Hitzacker gegangen und über die Wolfsschlucht wieder auf den hier beschriebenen Weg gestoßen. Es sind schöne und ruhige Wege denen man hier folgen kann.

    Lange Wanderung (durchgeführt am 19.09.09) mit teilweiser schlechter Ausschilderung. Z. B. Klötzistieg ist nirgens angegeben. Wegweiser : Weißer Pfeil auf grünem Grund. Der Blick auf die Elbe mit ihren naturbelassenen Ufern ist einfach schön. Man glaubt, man ist zeitweilig im Mittelgebirge, da man von oben auf die Elbauen blickt. Manchmal muß man an der Passage am Elbufer über die auen wandern. Bei Flut dürfte dies zu einem Problem werden, da dann der Weg weder zu finden (Pfadspur) noch zu begehen ist. Der Weg durch Mischwald führt stetig zu einem auf u. ab. Als Schuhwerk empfehle ich eher einen festen Wanderstiefel als einen Bergstiefel. Zum Abschluß der Tour lädt zumindest im Sommer die Eisdiele in Hitzacker zum verweilen ein.
