Geographically, Gerstungen is located on the south-western edge of the Thuringian Forest and borders on Hesse. The landscape is characterised by rolling hills and thus offers ideal conditions for outdoor activities such as hiking or cycling.

The town itself also has a lot to offer. One of the most famous sights is the 18th century Wilhelmsthal Castle with its impressive baroque garden. Another highlight is the town church of St. Marien, whose tower is already visible from a great distance.

Culturally interested visitors will be delighted with the "Gerstunger Heimatstuben" museum, which provides an insight into the history of the region. Regular events such as concerts or theatre performances also enrich the cultural offerings.

For those who like to try culinary specialities, the regional cheese "Werra-Bergkäse" should definitely be tasted or stock up on fresh products at one of the many farm shops.

For active people, there are many possibilities: In summer, the open-air swimming pool entices you to swim and sunbathe, and numerous hiking and cycling routes through the surrounding natural landscape invite you to be discovered. In winter, you can go skiing here - the snow-covered meadows and forests are particularly beautiful then.

But even in bad weather, you don't have to miss out on activities in Gerstungen. The indoor swimming pool offers swimming fun for the whole family, while the "Filmpalast" cinema entertains with current films.

In conclusion, Gerstungen is a destination that has something to offer for everyone - be it nature enthusiasts or culture lovers. It is especially beautiful here in spring, when everything is in bloom, and in autumn during harvest time. So a stay here is always worthwhile!

Tolle Ausblicke vom Drachenstein.
