Welcome to Gadebusch, a picturesque little town in north-eastern Germany. Situated between the Hanseatic cities of Lübeck and Wismar, Gadebusch is truly an insider's tip for all travellers who want to get off the beaten track.

The town itself is idyllically situated on the course of the Sude River and is overlooked by an impressive castle complex. Gadebusch Castle is considered the most important building in the town and is a real feast for the eyes. Visitors here can not only take a walk through the castle grounds, but also take part in guided tours or explore the numerous rooms on their own.

But there are other sights to discover besides the castle: The historic old town with its half-timbered houses invites you to take a stroll and if you like visiting churches, you should definitely visit the town church of St. James.

Gadebusch also has a lot to offer in terms of culture: Concerts, readings or exhibitions take place regularly - the annual medieval festival in August is particularly recommendable.

The region also offers some culinary highlights: Be sure to try the famous "Griebenschmalz" as well as fresh fish from the Baltic Sea!

For outdoor enthusiasts, there are many opportunities for active recreation: whether hiking or cycling along the Sude shore, canoeing on the river or an excursion to the nearby Schaalsee biosphere reserve - there is something here for everyone. It is especially beautiful in spring and summer.

Even when the weather is bad, you don't have to miss out on activities: The "Wonnemar" leisure pool in Wismar offers bathing fun for the whole family and Gadebusch Castle also has some indoor venues to offer.

Summarising: Gadebusch is definitely worth a trip! Everyone will find something to their taste here - be it culture, nature or culinary delights. An insider tip for all those who want to be away from mass tourism.

As a travel guide, we definitely recommend a walk through the castle park and a bike tour along the Suderadweg. But a detour to the medieval festival or a visit to the leisure pool are also highlights of your trip to Gadebusch.
