Etzenricht

The region is known for its idyllic landscapes with rolling hills and forests as well as numerous lakes and rivers. A special highlight is the Waldnaabtal nature reserve, which stretches along the river of the same name and offers an impressive backdrop.

There are many sights for tourists to discover here. In Etzenricht, it is worth visiting the 18th century parish church of St. Nicholas or Etzenricht Castle, which is now used as the town hall.

In Neustadt an der Waldnaab, you should definitely explore the historic old town, which is characterised by old half-timbered houses and narrow streets. Here you will also find the market square with the Old Town Hall from the 15th century as well as the Gothic parish church Maria Himmelfahrt.

Cultural highlights include the Museum Industriekultur Ostbayerns in Neustadt or the Kulturstadel in Etzenricht, where concerts and exhibitions are held regularly.

Those who like good food will also get their money's worth: the regional cuisine is characterised by hearty dishes such as pork knuckle or bratwurst - best accompanied by a freshly tapped beer from one of the numerous breweries in the area.

The region is particularly suitable for outdoor activities in spring and summer. Hikes through the Waldnaab valley or cycling tours along the river are particularly recommended here. Fishing, boating or swimming in one of the lakes is also possible.

If it rains, for example, you can take a trip to nearby Weiden and visit the Max Reger Museum or go bowling.

But Etzenricht and Neustadt an der Waldnaab are always at their best when the sun is shining and you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the landscape from the hills surrounding the towns - a destination that is definitely worth a trip!
