Engen lies at the foot of the Hegau, an impressive mountain range of volcanic cones. The town is surrounded by picturesque vineyards and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. Engen is known for its historic old town with its well-preserved ensemble of half-timbered houses and numerous churches and chapels.

The most important sights include Hegau Castle with its museum of natural and cultural history and the castle park, the Stork Tower as the town's landmark or the local history museum "Haus Dix". For art lovers, a visit to the Singen Art Museum or the Rosgarten Museum in Constance is recommended.

A variety of events take place throughout the year, such as the traditional wine festival in summer or the romantic Christmas market during Advent. A special highlight is the annual International Jazz Festival, where well-known musicians from all over the world perform.

Culinary Engen has a lot to offer: Here you can enjoy regional specialities such as Maultaschen or Spätzle. Baden cuisine is not neglected either - be sure to try Black Forest ham or Badischer Zwiebelrostbraten.

For outdoor fans there are numerous activities such as hiking, cycling or climbing. The best season for hiking is in spring and autumn, when nature is in full bloom or has turned colourful. For cyclists, the Lake Constance cycle path, which runs through Engen, is a good choice. Climbing fans will find a challenging climb on Hohentwiel with a spectacular view of Lake Constance.

Even in rainy weather, there is plenty to do in Engen: For example, visit the "Aquari" leisure pool with its various pools and slides or relax in one of the cosy cafés and restaurants.

In summary, Engen is definitely worth a visit! Discover the historic old town, enjoy regional specialities and experience unforgettable outdoor adventures - everyone will find what they are looking for here. Where is it most beautiful? That is entirely in the eye of the beholder - see for yourself this enchanting place in the district of Konstanz!

Really enjoyed this hike. Sufficiently challenging with steep and sometimes long climbs and the Wutachschlucht, combined with beautiful views. Apart from the last leg when we walked along the lake into Konstanz the trail was very quiet. We had independently arranged accommodation. All were of excellent quality and good value. We had also organised taxis to transport our suitcases between hotels as there was no agency offering to do this. In spite of asking the Verein and various tourist boards I was given no real help or advice. I would recommend all of the companies we used - Taxi Feiburg 555555, Frank Witte, Taxi Striskovic, Dein Taxi and Taxi Vogler. It is not a cheap way of doing things but all of our bags were delivered on time without any problems. If doing this hike take plenty of water and lunch as there are not a lot of places along the way to fill up or buy food. The only disappointment we had was that there did not appear to be any plaque at the end of the hike in Konstanz to mark the end of the walk. We went to Tourist Information and they had no idea where the official end was. Regardless would really recommend the Querweg!
