But Dünsen also has a lot to offer culturally. Visit the St.Johannis church from the 13th century or the local history museum with an exhibition on the history of the village.

One highlight is certainly the numerous events such as the annual harvest festival in autumn or the Christmas market in winter - both invite you to enjoy a cosy get-together with regional specialities.

Culinary specialities are of course also available here: be sure to try the famous "Dünsener Korn", a schnapps from the local distillery, as well as hearty dishes such as kale with pinkel or labskaus.

The best outdoor activities can be enjoyed in Dünsen, especially in spring and summer: Hike through the Wildeshauser Geest nature park or explore the surroundings by bike along the Hunte cycle path. Fishing is also possible on the nearby river Hunte. If it does rain, we recommend a visit to the Delmenhorst indoor swimming pool or a tour of Delmenhorst Castle with its impressive collection of contemporary art.

Dünsen is certainly at its best in the summer, when nature is in full bloom and you can best enjoy the idyllic landscape. But the place also has its charm in winter with snow-covered forests and cosy Christmas markets.

Overall, Dünsen is definitely worth a trip for all those who are looking for peace and quiet and want to be inspired by the beauty of nature. Our Travel Guide recommends this charming destination as an insider tip away from mass tourism.
