Geographical location and special features: Dörnberg lies idyllically on the edge of the Taunus Mountains and is surrounded by rolling hills. The region is characterised by its picturesque landscapes; forests, fields and river courses characterise the surrounding area. Here you can experience nature up close.

Tourist attractions: There are many historical places to visit in Dörnberg. Among the most famous are the medieval Balduinstein Castle and Oranienstein Castle with its beautiful baroque garden. A walk through the village itself is also worthwhile - here you will find numerous half-timbered houses from the 16th-18th centuries.

Cultural highlights and events: For art lovers, we recommend a visit to the "Kunstwerk" gallery or the "Art on the Rocks" sculpture park. Another highlight are regular concerts in the church St.Michael or in the cultural centre Lahnstein.

Culinary specialities: The regional cuisine is characterised by hearty dishes such as Rhenish Sauerbraten or Handkäs' mit Musik (Harz cheese). You should also try the regional wine, especially the Riesling from the Rhine Valley.

Outdoor activities: The region is ideal for outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling or canoeing. A tour along the Lahn valley is particularly beautiful in spring and summer. In winter you can go skiing or cross-country skiing on the nearby ski slopes.

Where to go in Dörnberg: A highlight of the region are the numerous vantage points with views over the Lahn Valley and the surrounding hills. A particularly beautiful place to linger is the romantic Oranienstein castle garden - here you can relax wonderfully and enjoy nature.

What to do if it rains: Even in bad weather, there is plenty to do in Dörnberg. For example, visit the "Altes Rathaus" museum or spend a cosy afternoon in a café with coffee and cake. Dörnberg in the Rhein-Lahn district offers many possibilities for a successful holiday - whether cultural, active sports or simply relaxation - this destination is definitely worth a visit!
