Demen

Demen is a small village in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It is located between the cities of Schwerin and Wismar on the edge of the Sternberger Seenland nature park. The area is characterised by its numerous lakes - 23 in total - which offer the perfect ambience for water sports activities.

Most relevant for tourism are Demen Castle and St. Mary's Church. The castle was built in the 19th century and today serves as a venue for concerts or weddings. The church, on the other hand, dates back to the 13th century and impresses with its Gothic architecture.

Culturally interested visitors can also visit the local history museum, which offers insights into the history of the village, or go on a journey of discovery during a walk along the old estate.

For gourmets, we recommend trying local specialities such as smoked fish or game dishes - it doesn't get any fresher than this!

Outdoor activities are at the top of the list here: Whether hiking, cycling or fishing - there is so much to experience! Spring is especially good for bird watching during migration; in summer you can look forward to a refreshing dip in the lakes; autumn is the best time for mushroom picking and in winter you can enjoy the dreamlike landscape on a snow hike.

Even if the weather doesn't cooperate, there is plenty to do. For example, visit the "Wonnemar" leisure pool in Wismar or take a trip to Schwerin and visit the castle and the historic old town.

Where is the most beautiful? That's hard to say - each lake has its own charm! But the Sternberger See, the Kritzower See and the Lützower See are particularly recommendable.
