Bürgstadt

Geographically, Bürgstadt lies on the banks of the Main between Aschaffenburg and Würzburg. The town is surrounded by picturesque vineyards that extend to the hills of the Spessart. Miltenberg, on the other hand, is located south of Bürgstadt on the border with the Odenwald. Both towns are known for their idyllic landscape as well as their historic half-timbered houses dating back to the 16th century.

Touristically relevant sights are many here: In Bürgstadt you should definitely visit Mespelbrunn Castle, a medieval castle complex with impressive architecture. A visit to the wine festival or a wine tasting is also part of the experience - after all, the region is one of the largest wine-growing areas in Germany.

In Miltenberg we recommend a tour of the old town with its narrow streets and historic buildings such as the Schnatterlochhaus or the Old Town Hall. Another highlight is the Mildenburg, a well-preserved castle ruin from the 12th century, from which you have a breathtaking view over the Main valley.

Cultural highlights can also be found in both towns: The "Altes Schloss" museum in Bürgstadt displays exhibits on the history of the town as well as regional works of art and craft traditions. In Miltenberg there is the "Brauereimuseum" (Brewery Museum), where you can learn all about the history of brewing beer.

Bürgstadt and Miltenberg also have a lot to offer in the way of culinary delights: Be sure to try the regional Spessart asparagus, which is in season here from late April to mid-June. Hearty dishes such as pork knuckle or bratwurst are also popular - best enjoyed in one of the cosy local inns.

The summer season is particularly suitable for outdoor activities: hike on one of the numerous hiking trails through the vineyards or along the Main River. A canoe trip on the river is also an experience for young and old. If the weather is bad, we recommend a visit to the "MILAMARE" leisure pool in Miltenberg or the indoor pool in Bürgstadt.
