Geographically, Bodenwerder lies on the Weser and is surrounded by picturesque hills. The town itself has a rich history as a trading centre along the river. Holzminden, on the other hand, is located south of it in the idyllic Weser valley and is considered the capital of scent.

One of the most tourist-relevant sights in Bodenwerder is undoubtedly the Münchhausen Museum, which is dedicated to the famous baron of lies. Here you can learn more about his life and even ride his horse through the castle park! Fürstenberg Castle with its porcelain manufactory is also worth a visit.

In Holzminden you should definitely visit the German Perfume Museum or admire the baroque St. Marien town church.

Cultural highlights abound here: The annual Münchhausen Festival in Bodenwerder attracts visitors from all over the world, as do the annual Art Days in Holzminden or the summer theatre at Fürstenberg Castle.

For outdoor enthusiasts, this region offers numerous activities in every season: Hike along the Weser Cycle Path or explore the Solling Forest on a bike tour during the warmer months; In winter, cross-country skiers and sledders can show off their talents in the Solling.

If it rains, there is still plenty to do: Visit the Weser Renaissance Museum in Holzminden or enjoy a cup of coffee in one of the cosy cafés in Bodenwerder.

Culinary delights the region has to offer: Be sure to try the excellent apple wine from the surrounding area or visit one of the many weekly markets for fresh produce. In Holzminden, you should also not miss experiencing the famous perfume museum with its scents and aromas.

Overall, Bodenwerder and Holzminden are definitely worth a trip! Whether cultural highlights, outdoor adventures or culinary discoveries - everyone will find something to their taste here. A travel guide for anyone looking for authentic experiences.
