Discover the region

Geographically, the village lies on the edge of the North Eifel Nature Park and is surrounded by impressive scenery. The region is known for its volcanic activity millions of years ago, which led to the formation of many maars here - crater lakes with crystal-clear water.

One of the tourist attractions is the historic railway station building from 1909, which now serves as an information centre. Here you can learn more about the history of the Eifel and also rent bicycles or buy hiking maps.

Another highlight are the many hiking opportunities through meadows and forests along the Kyll or to the nearby maars such as the Pulvermaar or the Holzmaar. Cycling on well-maintained routes is also very popular in this area.

Cultural highlights are also available: the annual funfair festival in August attracts many visitors and offers a colourful programme with music acts and traditional dishes such as Himmel un Ääd (Heaven and Earth) - mashed potatoes with apple pieces served with slices of black pudding.

If it rains, it is worth visiting the "Alte Schule" local history museum right next to the St. Hubertus church. Here you can learn more about life in the Eifel in the 19th and 20th centuries.

The most beautiful time in Birresborn is certainly in spring, when the meadows are full of flowers and everything is green and blossoming, or also in autumn, when the leaves of the trees turn colourful.

Overall, Birresborn offers many possibilities as a destination for nature and culture enthusiasts - a real insider tip for all those who want to experience something away from mass tourism!
