Discover the region

Geographically, Bertsdorf-Hörnitz is located in the south-eastern part of Germany and borders on Poland and the Czech Republic. The town lies at an altitude of 270 metres above sea level and is surrounded by beautiful forests.

Touristically relevant sights include Hörnitz Castle with its impressive baroque garden and the historic church of St. Mary from the 15th century. Cultural highlights include the annual "Magic of the Senses" art festival in summer and the traditional Easter horse riding at Easter.

Culinary Bertsdorf-Hörnitz has a lot to offer: Be sure to try the regional specialities such as the Zittau butter cake or the famous Spreewald gherkin from the nearby region.

If you like to be active, you can go hiking, cycling or climbing here - depending on the season, there is always something to do! In spring and summer, for example, you can take a bike ride along the Neisse Cycle Path or go on an excursion to Lake Olbersdorf; in autumn, the surrounding area with its colourful foliage beckons you to hike through the forest; meanwhile, winter enthusiasts can get their money's worth with skiing or tobogganing.

Even if it rains, there's plenty to do in Bertsdorf-Hörnitz: Visit the Museum of Nature and the Environment or take a guided tour of the historic old town of Görlitz - there's something here for everyone!

And where is the most beautiful place? That's hard to say, because every place has its own charm. However, we recommend a walk through the baroque garden of Hörnitz Castle at sunset - an unforgettable experience!

All in all, Bertsdorf-Hörnitz is definitely worth a trip and we hope that this Travel Guide has helped you to plan your trip in the best possible way.
