Beelen

Geographically, Beelen is located about 20 km southwest of Münster and is surrounded by beautiful countryside with rolling hills and fields. The town has a long history as a trading centre and agricultural region.

Beelen is known for its picturesque half-timbered houses that stretch along the main street. Here you will also find many shops, restaurants and cafés as well as the weekly market on Saturday mornings.

Sites of interest to tourists include the 13th-century St. Stephanus Church and the Heimathaus Beelen with its museum on the history of the village. Another attraction is the nearby Teutoburg Forest with its numerous hiking and cycling trails.

Cultural highlights include the annual shooting festival in August as well as various concerts as part of the cultural programme "Culture on the Farm". A visit to the nearby city of Münster is also definitely worthwhile - there are numerous museums, plays and musical events to experience here.

For culinary delights, we definitely recommend a detour to the "Alte Post" restaurant or the "Hofcafé Steinkamp" café. Be sure to try the regional specialities such as pumpernickel bread or the famous Warendorf horses.

For outdoor activities, the nearby Teutoburg Forest is a great place to go hiking or cycling. In summer, a visit to the outdoor swimming pool "Beverland" is also a good idea. If it rains, we recommend a visit to the indoor swimming pool in Warendorf or the Museum of Natural History and Geology in Münster.

Where is the most beautiful? That's hard to say - every place has its own charm! However, we definitely recommend a walk through the historic centre of Beelen as well as a trip to Neuhaus Castle near Paderborn.
