Auggen

Geographically, Auggen lies between the Black Forest and the vineyards of the Markgräflerland. Here you encounter a breathtaking landscape with rolling hills and numerous hiking trails. The region is known for its excellent wines, which you can get to know at a tasting right on site.

Tourist attractions include the 13th-century Bürgeln Castle, which sits enthroned high on a mountain and offers a magnificent view over the valley. Cultural highlights include the annual music festival or the arts and crafts market in summer.

Culinary specialities abound in Auggen: be sure to try the regional specialities such as Maultaschen or Zwiebelkuchen as well as the delicious wines of the area.

The best outdoor activities can be experienced from spring to autumn: Hiking through forests and vineyards, cycling along the Rhine or canoeing on the river - everyone will find something here! Golfers also get their money's worth: the challenging golf course on the Tuniberg offers a fantastically beautiful setting for playing.

If it rains, you can retreat to the local museum, for example, or make a detour to Freiburg, which is only 20 kilometres away.

The most beautiful time in Auggen is in autumn, when the leaves turn colourful and you can watch the winegrowers harvesting the grapes. But it's also a wonderful place to spend time in summer - for example with a picnic on one of the numerous meadows or a dinner under the open sky.
