Discover the region

Geographical location and special features: Auenwald is idyllically situated on the edge of the Swabian Forest and is surrounded by numerous meadows, fields and forests. The municipality consists of the districts of Unterbrüden, Oberbrüden and Schleißweiler as well as the main town of Auenwald. Here you will find a unique combination of natural and cultural treasures.

Touristically relevant sights: One of the most famous sights is the St. Bartholomew's Church in Unterbrüden with its striking tower. Unterbrüden Castle with its beautiful park also invites you to linger. In Oberbrüden you should definitely visit the local history museum or make your way to the castle ruins. The historic centre of Auenwald attracts visitors with half-timbered houses from past centuries.

Cultural highlights and events: Cultural life in Auenwald is enriched by numerous events: In summer, the popular music festival "Rock am See" takes place here, where local bands can demonstrate their skills. Another highlight is the traditional harvest festival in autumn.

Culinary specialities: Many restaurants offer regional specialities such as Maultaschen or Spätzle mit Soß'. A special highlight are the numerous meadow orchards where you can pick fresh fruit directly from the tree.

Outdoor activities: The surroundings of Auenwald offer countless opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling or Nordic walking. A hike through the Swabian Forest is particularly beautiful in autumn, when the leaves turn colourful. The nearby Stromberg-Heuchelberg Nature Park also invites you to explore.

Rainless days in Auenwald: Even in bad weather, there is plenty to do in Auenwald: Visit the local museum, for example, or take a trip to nearby Stuttgart and see the many sights there.

Where is it most beautiful? It is particularly idyllic along the river Murr, which meanders through the landscape and always offers great photo motifs. But the vantage points around the Swabian Forest also offer breathtaking panoramas of the region.

Summary: Auenwald in the Rems-Murr district is definitely worth a visit! The combination of natural and cultural treasures as well as numerous leisure opportunities makes this destination a real insider tip. Whether hiking, cycling or experiencing cultural highlights - everyone gets their money's worth here!
