Altenmedingen

Geographically, Altenmedingen lies on the edge of the Lüneburg Heath and thus offers a breathtaking landscape with meadows, fields and forests. The region is known for its idyllic atmosphere as well as the numerous historic buildings from the 18th century.

Touristically relevant are above all the sights such as Holdenstedt Castle or Ebstorf Monastery, which give an insight into the history of this area. Cultural highlights are also offered by various museums such as the Hundertwasser Railway Station Museum or also the German Salt Museum in Lüneburg.

For culinary specialities, we recommend enjoying regional specialities such as kale with spelt or Labskaus - a traditional dish made from potatoes and cured meat.

The best outdoor activities can be enjoyed here at any time of year! In summer, a bike ride through the surrounding nature or a walk along the Ilmenau River are particularly suitable. In winter, on the other hand, sledding on the nearby hills and cross-country skiing adventures through snow-covered landscapes are enticing.

Even when the weather is bad, there are plenty of options for entertainment: a recommendation would be, for example, a visit to the fun pool "Badeland" in Uelzen or even a trip to the cinema.
