This route takes us through quiet Boddenland. It passes by gems of brick architecture, extraordinary museums, and through "forgotten" landscapes.

Discover the region

Welcome to Ahrenshoop, a charming coastal resort on the Baltic Sea. Situated on the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula, Ahrenshoop is known for its picturesque landscape and cultural highlights.

Geographically, Ahrenshoop is located between the Bodden in the west and the open sea in the east. The region is characterised by its unspoilt nature, ranging from forests and dunes to kilometres of sandy beaches.

Touristically relevant are above all the numerous sights in Ahrenshoop. The art museum offers an impressive collection of regional artworks as well as changing exhibitions of national and international artists. The Haus des Gastes is also worth a visit: concerts, readings or lectures are held here regularly.

Cultural highlights can be found in Ahrenshoop all year round: In summer, the traditional harbour festival attracts visitors with live music and culinary delicacies from the region. In autumn, the Filmkunstfest MV takes place - a festival for sophisticated films outside the mainstream.

Speaking of culinary delights: Ahrenshoop's restaurants serve fresh fish as well as regional specialities such as smoked meat or pike-perch fillets. If you prefer to do the cooking yourself, you can buy fresh fruit and vegetables directly from the farmer at the weekly market.

Outdoor activities can be enjoyed in Ahrenshoop all year round. In summer, walks along the beach or bicycle tours through the surrounding nature are ideal. Water sports enthusiasts also get their money's worth: sailing, surfing or kite surfing are popular leisure activities here.

If it rains, there is still plenty to do in Ahrenshoop: a visit to the art museum or a relaxing sauna day in the hotel's wellness area provide variety and relaxation.

Where is it most beautiful in Ahrenshoop? That's hard to say - each place has its own unique charm. However, the dune landscape around the lighthouse and the west beach with its fine sand are certainly among the highlights of the region.

Ahrenshoop is definitely worth a visit - whether as a short trip for a weekend getaway or a longer holiday stay. With this travel guide you are well prepared for your stay in this enchanting coastal region of Germany!
