Mende, une cité riche d'histoire
La ville, ancienne capitale du Gévaudan, est à trois heures de Lyon, Marseille et Toulouse et à moins de deux heures de Montpellier et de Clermont-Ferrand.
La renommée de Mende fut importante jusqu'au XIXè siècle. Son industrie textile et le grand nombre de foires qui s'y tenaient, participèrent grandement à cette réputation de ville prospère et florissante.Cependant, la ville ne sut prendre le virage de la première révolution industrielle au XIXè siècle et perdit peut à peut de sa superbe jusqu'à plonger dans une crise économique profonde au XXè siècle.
Ce n'est qu'à l'aube des années 2000, que Mende trouve un second souffle grâce à la restauration de son centre-ville historique et à l'aménagement du Causse au Sud de la Ville et des bords du Lot.
