The most beautiful trail runs in Vals
Trail running in Vals is especially beautiful from September to November. The heat of summer gives way to milder temperatures, the leaves of trees and bushes change color to a bright spectrum of yellow, orange, and red, and the autumn landscapes often offer spectacular views such as mist over the lakes and fantastic sunsets. While nature prepares for winter, you can enjoy the quieter atmosphere and at the same time experience the physical activity and mental refreshment of trail running. In the region, there are varied trails for every difficulty level.
Autumn Magic on the Valserberg
With a length of 14.8 km, the moderately difficult trail run Valserberg awaits you with a roughly three and a half hour run and 1,253 meters of ascent. This tour not only promises sporting challenges but also the opportunity to explore the magnificent mountain world of the rear Peiltal. It starts at the picturesque village square of Vals, where a steep ascent awaits you quickly. Shortly afterwards, you will come across a hiking trail that leads you past the charming Rongg chapel and the traditional Abersch Hus deep into the heart of the Peiltal. On gently rising paths, you proceed to the picturesque Maiensässsiedlung Uf der Matta. As you approach the summit, an impressive backdrop of autumn-colored trees unfolds before you.
When the terrain becomes rockier and you pass through the historic military installations below the Valserberg, the landscape changes with every step. The barren relics of times past form a fascinating contrast to the lush nature. Finally, you reach the pass height, which rewards you with a breathtaking panoramic view of the Passo del San Bernardino and the majestic peaks of the Valsertal and Rheinwald. The descent to Hinterrhein is an opportunity to pick up speed on the well-developed single trails and alpine roads. As you conquer the last 900 meters of elevation, you can admire the colorful autumn palette in all its facets.
Enjoy the autumnal colors in the Valser Valley
The moderately difficult trail run village is approximately 9.4 km long. The trails run along the Valserrhein and through the sunny side of the valley. Along the way, you enjoy breathtaking views of the village and the surrounding mountain scenery, which shows itself at its best in autumn.
The trail run begins at the village square, where the dam path follows the course of the Valserrhein without significant elevation differences. Afterwards, the route of the local Vitaparcour leads you through the forests and clearings of the idyllic Gäud region, where the roaring Tomülbach awaits you. After a short section on the road, which takes you further downhill, you reach the charming St. Nicholas chapel. A natural road leads up to the picturesque hamlet of Soladüra and further uphill through a short section of the forest towards Zorts and Leis. After one kilometer, you arrive at the hamlet of Leis, the last stop before the trails lead you back over steep slopes to the innermost part of the village. Downhill via the dam path, you finally reach the village square again at the trail run.
Along the Valserrhein and later crossing the sunny side of the valley, this route offers a scenic overview of the village and its surrounding ...
