Weissenstein winter hike

From Oberdorf near Solothurn, escape the fog over the Plateau with the Weissenstein cable car. At the top near the mountain station, a wonderful Alpine panorama opens up and the deeply snow-covered plain towards Hinterweissenstein spreads out. No wonder some already remain sitting on the terrace of the Kurhaus Weissenstein. At the mountain station, this easy circular hike suitable for families and pleasure seekers begins. You follow the well-visible path westwards (snowshoes can also be rented at the Sennhaus restaurant). In gentle ups and downs, after about half an hour you reach the mountain inn Hinterweissenstein. There you can make a detour to the entrance of the Nidlenloch before enjoying a hearty fondue in the inn. Afterwards, you return via the connecting road to the starting point at the mountain station of the Weissenstein cable car. You can also stop slightly below the Hotel Weissenstein at the Sennhaus Weissenstein.
