Winter hiking on the Kandel is only possible to a limited extent due to other winter sports and the topography. The north and east sides are developed with slopes and trails, while the south slopes are mostly frequented by ski tourers and snowshoe enthusiasts. Otherwise, most paths and trails should be avoided in winter because the steepness of the slopes is considerable, and there is a risk of slipping or even falling at several points. Due to its easy accessibility and the great popularity of the highest summit in the Central Black Forest, however, you should not miss at least a small circular tour. Besides wonderful viewpoints, the infrastructure with dining options and a sled lift leaves nothing to be desired.
