Winter hike on the popular viewpoint mountain in the Zurich Oberland.
When snow falls down to lower elevations, the densely forested Zurich Oberland transforms into a fairytale forest. Those who prefer a peaceful winter hike in nature rather than crowded slopes in the Alps will find it at the Hörnli. The paths to the Hörnli, aside from the toboggan run to Steg, are not groomed. Since the Hörnli is one of the most popular summits in the Zurich Oberland due to its good accessibility from the Zurich agglomeration, one can be sure that someone has already broken the trail. From the treeless summit plateau, on a clear day, there is a wide-reaching view from the Glarus Alps to the Appenzell Alps. A mountain restaurant with a terrace invites you to linger at the summit. The route is also beautiful at sunset. In this case, it is advisable to hike the route in the reverse direction so that the short way back is easier.
