Follow the Puster Valley main road in the direction of St. Lorenzen to the car park Kreuzner in Ellen. The hike runs along a path through the forest (no. 67), which has some steeper sections, up to the summit of the Astjoch. Halfway up, the Walder hut offers an ideal resting point. From the summit of the Astjoch you can see the lower-lying Ellener cross, where you can pass by on the descent. The rest of the descent follows paths of the ascent.
