The exciting sections of the breakthrough valleys of Warnow and Mildenitz are also among the most challenging parts of this route. A 3 km long whitewater section with tree and stone obstacles awaits the canoeist. Only behind Eickhof does the Warnow transform into a gentle lowland river. During longer heat periods, it can happen that the Warnow in this section does not carry enough water. On the first stage, several portages are necessary. Behind the Rother See, a boat trolley is available for this purpose. The canoes must be transported 300 m.

Roadbook
This varied route is just right for demanding paddling enthusiasts. Initially, it goes on the narrow Mildenitz river over numerous small and larger lakes, along deep ice age channels past primeval forests. In the breakthrough valley, it then merges with the broader Warnow. Between Sternberger Burg and Eickhof, canoeists cross what is probably the most fascinating section of the breakthrough valleys. On bubbling water, they pass large boulders through wild romantic gorges. The kingfisher also hunts in this area.
Afterwards, the Warnow changes its character completely. Passing marshy meadows and picturesque small towns, it meanders wide and calm towards the Baltic Sea until the gates of the Hanseatic city of Rostock. For adventurous paddlers who want an encore, there is the possibility to switch to a sea kayak at the Rostock Mühlendamm and continue further towards the Baltic Sea.
