The Tierbergli hut perches spectacularly like an eagle's nest on a rock spur, surrounded by glaciers and firn peaks. A via ferrata and a hut path lead right into the icy arena, which can be wonderfully combined.
The ice flows of Steingletscher and Steinlimigletscher are separated by two rocky islands, the Bockberg and the Tierbergli. On the latter sits the Tierbergli hut. Approaches are the hut path and a via ferrata, which can be nicely combined since the iron path is divided into two sections. Option 1: ascend via the via ferrata and descend via the hut path. Option 2: hike on the first part of the via ferrata to the junction at P. 2427 and then continue on the hut path. Option 3: hike on the hut path to P. 2427 and start the second part of the via ferrata there. Those traveling with sure-footed children will appreciate options 2 and 3. The path is only moderately difficult and allows plenty of time to enjoy the views. The key section is a slightly overhanging rock slab in the first part; children often use the bypass variant here.
