The high plateau of the Engstligenalp is connected to the valley by hiking trails and a gondola. One path leads past the Engstligen waterfalls, another along steep rock faces. On this, partially blasted into the rock and secured with steel cables, ledge path, alpine farmers drive their cows in spring to the summer pastures of the Engstligenalp. Now some mountaineers are sometimes in a hurry. Locals therefore sometimes use a shortcut from the valley to the Engstligenalp. The "Chäligang" is an exposed rock path that runs through the steep wall near the Engstligen waterfalls. This route was renovated in summer 2008 and secured with a continuous steel cable – since then Adelboden also has a via ferrata. Besides the steel cable, many rusty chains from earlier days still hang. The waterfalls descending from the Engstligenalp are the trademark of this via ferrata. The path itself is very suitable for beginners. No overhangs, no strenuous exertion, no gimmicks like Tyroleans and rope
