Sentiero Brentari and Sentiero dell’Ideale
The via ferratas Sentiero Brentari and Sentiero dell'Ideale, opened in 1932, are the two oldest iron paths of the Bocchette Trail in the Brenta and connect the Pedrotti-Tosa hut with the Rifugio 12 Apostoli. Climbing-wise, this fourth and final stage of the Bocchette Trail, also doable as a long and physically demanding day route, is among the most challenging of the entire Brenta crossing. The high alpine route crosses four smaller glaciers and leads over high mountain passes. Key sections include the descent onto the d'Ambiez Glacier, the ascent to Bocca d'Ambiez, and crossing the icy Gämsenkessel. Depending on weather conditions, these sections should ideally be tackled with crampons, an ice axe, and a safety rope. After climbing through the spectacular mountain landscape, a long but equally impressive descent leads back into the valley.
