Payerspitze

From the Rifugio Mandron hut, near the top station of the Presena gondola, you walk along the steep ridge to the Lago Scuro lake. At the bottom of this basin there is a crossroads: if you take the path on the left (rocky bumps alternate with boulders), you reach the Payer Pass, where a via ferrata begins (granite slabs, vertical sections, sharp crest, exposed crossings and not always secured) that must be approached with great care. Once you have reached the Payerspitze, continue over a rocky ledge with wooden walkways and rocky steps to the Passo di Lago Scuro and the ruins of the military village of the same name. After the pass, the trail continues along the scree of the Corno di Lago Scuro slope until it reaches path SAT 209, which you take to return to the Rifugio Mandron.
