Exciting short via ferrata route in the area of the Vrsic Pass, ascent not over C, very scree-covered and unpleasant in the descent
The Vrsic Pass is very popular, so parking is already a problem. Currently (2025) work is underway to enlarge the parking spaces, likely fee-based after completion. The approach via Kranjska Gora alone offers overwhelming views of the massive north face of the Prisojnik 2547 m. The ascent offers some nice huts and including the pass several possibilities for routes in almost all directions. The described route is characterized by a relatively short approach, a via ferrata that should be no problem at grade C for a good alpinist (partly exposed). The summit provides an uplifting panoramic view, the descent is a challenge due to scree terrain and partly hard-to-recognize footpaths. Those who feel fit enough can cross westwards to the main summit V. Mojstrovka 2,366 m, but it is on a less attractive scree field.

Roadbook
From the Vrsic Pass, a marked hiking trail with moderate steepness leads north to the point Vratica 1800 m - here a sharp turn southwest - passing a junction on the right that leads to the Sleme - soon the start of the Hanzova Pot 1960 m is reached. Up to here 350 m ascent and about 1 hour. The via ferrata is located below the north face of the Mojstrovka and climbs in stages, some narrower chimneys and exposed traverses are demanding, concentration required. Due to the location of the via ferrata under the north face, long-lasting snowfields can be expected in spring, which could be tricky. Finally, a kind of exit is reached and it continues loudly to the summit, which becomes visible. The last summit ascent offers easy, interesting climbing without rope protection. The summit is reached after about 380 m of via ferrata. Total approx. 2.5 hours. The descent to the southeast follows a sloping scree field where footpaths repeatedly disappear, rather not very pleasant. Then the point Vratca Pod Mojstrovko at about 2000 m is reached. A bend steeply down north into a scree field about 400 m long. To ease the steepness, a safety cable was installed along the north side of the rock face, which helps to mitigate the steepness downwards. Still, caution and sure-footedness necessary. The last section to the starting point goes through dwarf pine terrain easily to the starting point.

Parking
Mostly heavy traffic and insufficient parking spaces, currently work is underway on the parking lots, a fee will likely be required after completion.
