One of the most famous and best medium mountain via ferratas in Germany. A must for beginners as well as via ferrata experts.

The Höhenglücksteig near Hirschbach in the Schwarzen Brand of the Hersbruck Alb is a gem among medium mountain via ferratas in Germany. The route, divided into three sections (difficulty levels from A to D/E), runs almost consistently at 15 to 20 meters height over its entire length of about one kilometer and overcomes just under 100 meters of elevation. All sections can be bypassed on a parallel hiking trail and there are always possibilities to ascend and descend again. The route was already established in 1932 by the "Alpine Society Höhenglück" for training purposes for alpine activities. Having been modernized several times, it is still in top condition today. The division into three sections also enables beginners to discover via ferrata climbing for themselves. At the same time, demanding D/E passages — all of which can be bypassed — challenge even experienced climbers. At the entrance to the first section, there is also the Ferrata Bambini, a practice via ferrata for children
