The newly created via ferrata is a purely enjoyable tour. It was set up primarily for training in via ferrata climbing. The via ferrata is secured with steel cables throughout. The north-facing ascent is mostly shady and therefore you have to be prepared for damp patches, especially in the rugged area. In the ridge area, we can expect a comprehensive view of the surrounding mountains. There are footprints on the rugged southern section and the direction of the route is indicated by red and white markings. Once you have passed the western corner with its magnificent valley view, you can expect a few more secured passages on a mountain path. Finally, you reach the access path in the area of the "Steinbockplatte" climbing garden, which leads you comfortably back to the hut.

Safety information
Take particular care in early summer (snow remains) and in wet weather. Careful walking, sure-footedness and a head for heights are required.Roadbook
The access point is reached from the hut (signpost) on a mountain path through alpine rose slopes to the foot of the Puitkoge foothills. The route winds upwards to the foot of the rock face, where the via ferrata begins. It initially follows a ledge and after a short climbing passage and an airy scramble around a rocky outcrop, the route continues briefly upwards and later along the right-hand edge of a scree gully in a moderately steep ascent to the Kleinbärenzinne with a small grassy plateau, views and a good place to rest. The last section up to the nearby ridge is then quickly reached on the secured path. Once at the top, the route is secured, initially along the foothills of the lower Puitkogel west ridge, later descending through rock and scree terrain. From the end of the secured climb, descend a short distance through scree (watch out for signposts!), then mostly horizontally westwards on the south-facing slope. Caution: do not descend to the cirque floor! On the western ridge, the path descends a little further until you reach the beautiful viewpoint on the now clearly visible mountain path. Follow the path eastwards through grass and alpine roses, the hut - and high above it the summit of the Hohe Geige - is now in view again. We pass a few short rocky passages secured with ropes. A little later, the ascent path is reached again, which leads back to the Rüsselsheimer Hütte in about 15 minutes.
