Ferrata Gerardo Sega
Partially secured path, following an exposed ledge system in sections. In summer, you should either start very early or avoid hiking the route. Ideal for spring and autumn when the days are cooler, and also a great route during the snow-free winter months. The area is relatively quiet and very scenic.
Approach: From the church, go back a little to the first fork. Continue left downhill (Path 652 - signpost "Valle dei Molini"); partly steep downhill and follow the signs to the via ferrata (Ferrata Gerardo Sega). At a fork with a sign (location Preafessa; sign "Ferrata Gerardo Sega"), turn left and follow the marked path uphill through the forest to the start. Characteristics and technical details: Technically a relatively easy route, which nevertheless requires sure-footedness and some mountaineering experience. The route begins like a real via ferrata, with a long and steep ladder, then well secured along a very exposed rock ledge and a secured descent onto the upper rock ledge. There are no steel cable protections there anymore; sure-footedness and a head for heights are an absolute must. The rest of the path consists of much walking terrain in the forest and some steeper and secured ascents, all of which are well climbable. Descent: From the exit, follow the path uphill
