Alpine mountain route over the Jubiläumsgrat from the Zugspitze to the Alpspitze
A jewel among alpine mountain routes in the Eastern Alps is certainly the Jubiläumsgrat, which leads us over mighty rocks and along a ridge from the Zugspitze to the Alpspitze.
Between Höllental and Reintal, the Jubiläumsgrat stretches like a stone band connecting the Zugspitze with the Alpspitze. The marked "path" is long but always varied with partly secured and unsecured climbing sections. With the magnificent views over the Alps and the lowlands, you almost have to take care to keep your eyes on the path. For this undertaking, however, alpine experience, stamina, and secure mastery of grade III (UIAA) as well as surefootedness and a head for heights are required. It may be advisable to join a mountain guide. The route should only be done in safe weather. At least nine hours should be planned for this tour; over a distance of 7 km we cover 500 meters of ascent and 1400 meters of descent. From the Zugspitze, the route goes over the Inner Höllentalspitze (2741 m) via the Brunntalgrat junction to the Middle (2742 m) and Outer (2720 m) Höllentalspitze, then over the Vollkarspitze (2618 m) to the False Grieskarscharte (2560 m) to the Grieskarscharte and over
