The history of Ronda dates back to Roman times; however, most of the buildings in the old town originate from the period when the Moors conquered the Iberian Peninsula. The trademark of Ronda is undoubtedly the Puente Nuevo. This stone bridge built in the 18th century spans the El Tajo gorge, which is up to 120 meters deep, connecting the old town with the newer district. There is much history to discover in Ronda, which has left its marks in the grand scenic setting in and around the town. While strolling through the charming streets and exploring the surroundings, we visit many interesting buildings, gardens, and monuments and admire the fabulous gorge through which the turquoise-blue Guadalevín River winds.
