Israel Museum, Knesset, and Yad Vashem – city tour in Jerusalem
Culturally and historically interesting route in western Jerusalem with a visit to the Israeli Parliament, the Israel Museum, and the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial
Our educational city tour begins at the Israel Museum. It is the largest cultural institution in the country and is internationally recognized as one of the leading museums for fine arts and archaeology. Here, we delve into the moving history of Israel and the development of Judaism. Near the Israel Museum is the Knesset, the Israeli Parliament. The 120 members are elected for four years. Those interested can join a guided tour and have the parliament shown to them. A visit is definitely worth the Menorah – a seven-branched bronze candelabrum with important events of Jewish history depicted on its seven branches. From the Knesset, we head to the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial, which was founded in 1953 by a Knesset resolution to commemorate the Nazi extermination of the Jews. In the memorial's museum - the Museum of Holocaust History - the events of the persecution of Jews are chronologically documented.
