Roadbook
The round begins in front of the water features at the start and welcome square on the "Kaiser-Maximilian-Platz" in front of the tourist information in Füssen. At the height of the Sparkasse on the left, the route crosses the "Sebastianstraße" to the right (pedestrian traffic light) and leads through a passage in the historic city wall along a quiet path to "Drehergasse." Please turn right here until you reach "Schrannenplatz," where the market hall, the former granary, is located. It was built in 1483, and grain was traded in the vaulted hall. Now turn left through "Brunnengasse," past the former residence of the famous sculptor Josef Anton Sturm, up to "Franziskanergasse," where the path now turns left. A nice atmosphere of historic buildings and views of the old city wall on the right lines the path up to the corner of "Drehergasse/An der Stadtmauer." From here, the path continues straight through the "Pfarrgassle" towards the Old Cemetery St. Sebastian and leaves the medieval old town ring through a gate, reaching the intersection of "Klosterstraße" and "Spitalgasse." Continue straight ahead to "Franziskanerplatz" and curve towards the Franciscan Monastery, which was founded in 1628 during the Counter-Reformation. The panoramic view of Füssen’s old town is impressive from here. Then the route leads from the monastery to the monastery church, which originated from the former Füssen parish church St. Sebastian. The route continues along the church, then down a staircase through a romantically appearing gate and past the memorial point for the painter Carl Spitzweg. Next, descend to the banks of the Lech River, where on the left, a few meters away, is the Trilogy Place with the themes Settlement History, Via Claudia Augusta, and the lifeline Lech. Back from the short side path, continue along the Lech River upstream. Just before the citizens' hospital, turn right into a small alley to "Flößer-" and straight on to "Spitalgasse," where the St. Mang Monastery impressively rises on the left. The route leads to the monastery, past the Holy Spirit Hospital Church, and at "Lechhalde" takes the worthwhile detour over the Lech Bridge to the beautiful panoramic point with a castle park bench at St. Mang and the High Castle on the other bank of the Lech. Return to the southeast corner of the monastery complex and then turn left along the monastery into "Faulenbachgässchen." Below the St. Mang Monastery and the church of the same name, shortly afterward turn right, ascending some steps into Baumgarten City Park, which was first mentioned in the 14th century as a monastery garden. Here the route meets a cross path and continues left through the city park. The route passes the theme island and two inviting castle park benches in a curve to the remains of the so-called "Wasserburg" 09, a water reservoir built in the 19th century in the style of a castle ruin. Continue towards the old town again and through a gate in the old city wall to St. Mang Church. At the corner "Ritterstraße / Lechhalde," where the main entrance of the town hall is located, turn right. Then turn left into "Brotmarkt" (past the impressive Lautenmacher Fountain on the right), before the path turns left into "Hütergasse" and then leads to the intersection "Ritterstraße." Turning right reaches the corner Ritterstraße / Reichenstraße at a fountain and continues right through "Reichenstraße" to the main traffic road (Sebastianstraße). Here, two pedestrian traffic lights lead to the tourist information and the "Kaiser-Maximilian-Platz" to the end point, the start and welcome square with the Lautenmacher Cube as the third cube on top.
