In the Kirchenfeld quarter, the museum quarter of the city of Bern, you can visit several museums in a very small area. This relaxing city walk leads over the Kirchenfeld Bridge to the museums.
The Kirchenfeld Bridge is something like the «gateway» to the Bern museum quarter. It connects the old town over the Aare river with the Kirchenfeld quarter. The 229-meter-long iron bridge with its two elegant arches is a «masterpiece of Swiss iron engineering» as stated on an information board. Several museums can be visited in a very small area in the Kirchenfeld quarter: the Bern Historical Museum with the integrated Einstein Museum, the Art Hall, the Museum of Communication, the Bern Natural History Museum, the Riflemen's Museum, and the ALPS Alpine Museum of Switzerland. A city walk could look like this: From the station, we go to Kleine Schanze, walk past the Federal Palace to the Kirchenfeld Bridge, and reach Helvetiaplatz via this, which is something like the «hub» to the museums. For the return route, the path along the Aare to the Bear Park is recommended. Over the Nydegg Bridge, we go back into the old town and follow the main axis, Justice Alley – Kram Alley – Market
