The Wingertslauf offers an extraordinary environment for sporting and active leisure activities, along with a topographically appealing route.
The Wingertslauf initially leads through the sunny vineyards of Frühlingsplätzchen towards the community of Weiler. After a hairpin turn, it goes uphill, past the Schöne Aussicht and shortly afterward downhill again through shady woods towards Monzingen. Just above the Stadtmühle, the running trail branches off into the rustic Nachtigallenweg. At its end, a steep single trail awaits as a real challenge. At first, this narrow path even includes some stairs, climbing almost up to the Schöne Aussicht.
From there, the route then leads downhill back to Frühlingsplätzchen and to the starting point, the start and finish at the Kelterhaus.
The 7.75 km long route is 90% unpaved and has some elevation changes after the western hairpin turn.
The Wingertslauf offers performance-oriented runners optimal training opportunities through the constant changes of incline, flat sections, and descents.
The Wingertslauf can also be completed at a leisurely pace. Various benches and the Schöne Aussicht - a very popular resting spot with a wine swing, seating with a view far into the Nahe valley - invite you to pause and rest.
The well-marked trail is therefore also suitable for a moderately difficult and multifaceted hike or walking round.

Competition Day
The Wingertslauf as a competition was established in 2015 on the occasion of the 111th anniversary of TuS 04 Monzingen e.V. Since then, runners meet every second Sunday in July to compete on the route. The 7.75 km variant with the described single trail and staircase section must be completed twice on competition day, resulting in a total of 15.5 km to run. Alternatively, a slightly adjusted 7.5 km trail-free round can also be run.

The train station in Monzingen is only 300 meters from the start. Numerous trains stop here in both directions on the rail line between Mainz and Idar-Oberstein. Parking is available at the station as well as at the adjacent clubhouse of TuS 04 Monzingen. Federal Highway 41 also runs directly past here. From there, you can safely pass under the B41 via an underpass to the street "Zum Frühlingsplätzchen" and at its end to the start and finish point of the Wingertslauf at the Kelterhaus.Get Timetable to destination
