This is a solid trail through some of the more spectacular parts of the luxembourgish ardennes. Be prepared for some really cool single track running up and down the highest plateaus of this region.

I would recommend this route to more experienced runners as this trail is predominantly composed of single tracks with varying levels of technicity and changing conditions, especially in winter. The combined distance and climb makes this a difficult one for beginner runners, but keep in mind that you do not need to run this. It is a great hiking loop for everyone else.

I found the best departure point for this trail (or any other trails around the Wiltz valley) to be the central parking lot in the village of Kautenbach.

    Equipment

    1. Always carry a working smartphone with GPS capability with you at all times, as this trail is not signposted as such and you will have to connect at different points. In case of an accident it is sometimes difficult to reach you quickly or for you to describe your exact location without the help of GPS location.

    2. Study the map beforehand, carry it with you and know how to read it... Best is to use smartphone apps, the GPS works pretty well here. Where to get paper maps:

    4. Dress appropriately, especially in winter time. Wear real trail shoes with propper grip. Do not run this in roadrunners.

    5. Carry water.
