This route is part of the marked trails in the Espace des Monts de Guéret. The start is from the parking lot of the Maupuy refuge. La Petite Carrière is route number 3 among the different trail routes in the Monts de Guéret.
Rather runnable at the start, this 13-kilometer route becomes more physical and technical as it progresses. It offers a chance to discover all the emblematic places of Maupuy. The route passes by the famous Baleine quarry, now flooded. Throughout the route, there are many viewpoints and plenty of reasons to be amazed as well.
This trail, perfectly marked, also passes by the legendary site of the Pierres Civières. They get their name from their shape, and the site is now classified. Under Napoleon, these stones served as refuge for peasants who wanted to escape the Russian campaign.
