From the parking lot, go back up the road for about a hundred meters where on the right side you’ll find the first of about 150 cairns marking the route, offering children a fun activity to recognize the path like a "treasure hunt" game. The trail leads to a first clearing with a small resting area under a lovely patch of beeches. It then rises to a first viewpoint equipped with a bench inviting contemplation (views of Mont Blanc, part of the Alps, the Jura mountain range, Risoux, and Risol). A second viewpoint offers the same panoramas plus Lake Ilay, Le Pic de l’Aigle, and the first plateau. After a somewhat steep rocky section, the trail runs alongside the cliffs of Chaux du Dombief (do not leave the route or approach these cliffs). It then winds back to pastures, crosses a pretty wooden footbridge, and returns the walker to the starting point.
