Very beautiful route from October to May. From May on, it is too hot due to the low altitude. Start in the artisan area of Terlan or at the parking lot by the "House of the Apple" in Terlan at the village entrance.

Nice variant to the starting point at the former Terlan wine tavern (first paved path to the right toward Esso gas station coming from Bolzano) is a run along the wine path. From the former Terlan wine tavern the ascent begins, which is pleasantly manageable on the not too steep and little used paved road. Quite quickly you reach the suspension bridge in Planatsch. At Scholerhof we leave the small paved road and the steep climb between vineyards begins. For the descent, I chose the steeper but more beautiful variant from Spergser Bichl to Planatsch. (Alternatively and also easier to run is the hiking trail that repeatedly crosses the Mölten road and partially runs along the old, closed Mölten road. For this, simply walk a few hundred meters along the Mölten road from Spergser Bichl until the trail branches off to the right at a meadow. The marking at the junction is somewhat difficult to recognize. Then the trail is well marked.) At the junction to Tschirgl, I then chose the variant via Tschirgl with splendid views of Terlan. Very beautiful route, also quicker to manage for very sporty trail runners. Especially beautiful until mid-April during the blooming season but also recommended year-round.

The route is also suitable as a normal hike. This can be altered almost indefinitely. For example, a loop on the Salten to Tschaufen or descent via Berg Josl and the Knappensteig. Possibly the descent can be made with the Mölten cable car to Vilpian.

    Author’s recommendation

Places to eat at the Berg Josl inn or Oberlegar for the variant descent via hiking trail to the old Mölten road or in the various inns in Terlan.

    Safety information

When descending from Tschaufer Nock to Planatsch, some caution is advised, partly a narrow trail, tripping stones, walk this section slowly.

    Roadbook

Best park at the House of the Apple in Terlan and jog along the wine path through the artisan area of Terlan to the Terlan wine tavern and then begin the ascent. Alternatively, take the very steep paved ascent to the Tschirgl farms and from there turn left toward Planatsach.
