Morterer Castle Loop

From the parking lot (indoor pool, WC, changing facilities) take the asphalt village street first flat, then moderately uphill towards the ice stadium. At the fork, turn right on the asphalt road over the Marein meadows to the Bierkeller. At the end of the road, by the large tree stumps, turn right along the shady, slightly rooty Marein water channel path. At the end of the water channel, go straight through a gate towards Morter. Over the covered “Morterer Steg”, which crosses the Plima stream, immediately left over a meadow path through the orchards. Continue along the Plima embankment, past the football field to the asphalt sidewalk, from there to the first turnoff at the festival square. There turn left onto Obermontanistraße, steadily uphill to the Obermontani castle ruins. Before the St. Stephen’s chapel, turn right into a narrow forest trail towards Untermontani.
